Hello Classmates,
Some updates for you regarding our 55th class reunion:
There will be a Friday Night Mixer at the home of Dell Shitara Farnham on September 8, 2023 starting from 4-8pm. Her address is 556 Saxony Road, Encinitas, CA. This is a potluck so bring something to share if you are able. There is plenty of street parking.
The Reunion Picnic will be held at the Olivenhain Meeting Hall property starting at Noon. The property is located at 423 Rancho Santa Fe Road, Encinitas, CA. The Terrific Taco truck will be on grounds from 12:30-2:30 pm serving up plenty of tacos with all the fixings. We will also provide drinks. There is plenty of parking available at the meeting hall, however, it is a dirt parking lot with uneven terrain so plan accordingly.
We have learned of eight of our classmates passing since our last reunion. They are:
Mike Case
Lizzie Castro
Margie Carver
Dave Clark
Leslie Cochran
Candy Feist
Jim Ivicevic
Stan Ross
We are looking forward to seeing all who attend!
Hello Classmates,
I just found out this weekend that my dear friend Lizzie Castro Montes passed away in December 2021.
In 2023, we will all celebrate 55 years since our high school graduation. It is hard to believe that many years have gone by so quickly and yet here we are, most of celebrating 73 years on this planet!
Our reunion will start with a mixer at the home of Dell Shitara Farnham on Friday evening, September 8, 2023. Then on Saturday, September 9, 2023, we will get together for a picnic at the Olivenhain Meeting Hall property.
More details to come as we get closer to the time!
It is with great sadness that I write this post about our classmate, Candy Feist Smith. She will be missed by all.
Written by Candy's daughter, Andi Vanetta Smith, on 7/26/22:
"My beloved & beautiful mother Candy is on her next adventure in heaven. Our spiritual sage, our cowgirl and jet-setter, is continuing her journey as a spirit warrior in the truest sense. While I know she will always be with us, my heart aches and yearns for her in ways I only hope will get easier with time. It feels impossible to find the words to capture the richness of our relationship, and my immense gratitude for our final six months together — a tapestry of spiritual enlightenment, laughter, beauty, meaning, and mother/daughter bonding. It is my greatest honor to have been her daughter.
Her legacy lives on in every heart she touched, as a teacher for 35+ years in North County San Diego (Oak Crest & LCC), 15 years in Montana, 35 years of leadership in AA, a Pachamama Sister, her adventures in Mexico and Belize — she lived a full, adventurous, and deeply meaningful life. Her sponsorship, mentorship, friendship, and spiritual guidance reached far and wide, and I continue to be overwhelmed by the tributes I receive describing the life changing impact she had on so many.
To those of you who knew my momma, either personally or through me, I want you to know that her wish for you is to find your joy, follow your bliss, reach for happiness in everything you do, choose the best feeling thought, raise your vibe, drop all judgement, embody compassion, and fear not.
Momma passed away on July 11th, 2022 — she would have been 72 today. Happy heavenly birthday to Candy, our Angel. 7/26/1950 - 7/11/2022. I LOVE YOU MOMMA "❤️🩹
